Neon
Text, logos and illustrations add a great dimension to your sales message. We can create signs that light up Piccadilly Circus and West End Theatres or add a unique brilliance to an in-store display. Made to measure or in our stock letter sizes, a neon sign commands attention. No project is beyond our skills and experience, but if your need is for something a little simpler, such as an Exit sign in green, we use our best skills to blow your tubes... not your budget! Newman Displays are long standing experts in neon signs - we also offer a first class installation and maintenance service. Glass bending is a highly skilled trade, and we have an experienced team of in-house glass benders. They can bend glass canes to virtually any shape, enabling the most intricate lettering style, symbol or logo to be reproduced.
First developed in 1912 by Parisian Georges Claude, neon still remains one of the most eye-catching and effective methods of illuminated signage, it is also possibly one of the most interesting.
Neon lighting provides the sign maker with a medium unparalleled in its brilliance, legibility and the spectacular range of colours that can be shaped to the demands of the sign. For the architect these same attributes may be used to outline parts of a building such as a roofline or an entrance but is particularly used where its fluidity of design encourages its use for both decorative and ambient lighting. This form of lighting not only stands on cosmetic benefits, but its low power consumption and longevity which outlasts most fluorescent lamps many times over make it very cost effective.
Neon lends itself best to such locations as nightclubs, department stores, amusement arcades, and, due to their low level of energy consumption, even internal illumination.
