The Gielgud Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, was originally designed by the renowned theatre architect W. G. R. Sprague in 1906 and it seemed fitting that after a century the building was treated to a major refurbishment.
The brief was clear – the architectural beauty of the building was to be exposed and the signage was to be effective and complementary to the architecture of the façade.
The key to effective and functional signage is in the detail – the balance between display area and the signage structures is paramount.
The sourcing of materials for approval, design drawings, on-site mock-ups and detailed client liaison enabled the project to succeed on every count. From the minimalist street level frameless displays to the high level projecting lightbox displays with their eye-catching chasing borders the balance between the signage and the building was maintained.
The end result is a truly refurbished landmark building that Newman Displays are very proud to be involved with.
